Christmas Carol's Influence

A Christmas Carol is one of the most influential books of Dickens' era. How many times have you read it, seen a movie of it, watched a play, or just seen the book on a shelf?  Christmas historians credit the book with creating our holiday celebration in England and the US: the decorated tree, gifts, decorations, piles of food, family, friends, games, music, laughter, smiling faces, and Father Christmas.   Many remember such special days and think, "Now THAT'S what Christmas should be!"
